The present model covers about 10% of the area of Berlin and therefore constitutes only a small sample of the official three-dimensional city model of Berlin.

This video shows the marathon route through the virtual inner city of Berlin. The route includes numerous landmarks such as Potsdamer Platz, Siegessäule, Schloss Bellevue, Reichstag, Museumsinsel and the well-known Berliner boulevard “Unter den Linden”. The 10 kilometer race starts and ends at Brandenburger Tor – participants in the race must complete the entire course four times.

Within the scope of a pilot project, virtualcitySYSTEMS extracted the geometry for 3500 buildings from airborne LiDAR data of Middelburg. The LoD2 model and two detailed landmarks have been integrated in a real-time 3D city model for visualisation.
