3D visualisation of a new digestion tower in Kassel, Germany

Create a Autodesk^®LandXplorer™ Xpress Project containing a 3D visualisation of a new digestion tower in Kassel, Germany. The proposed new structure was integrated in context of the existing residential and industrial buildings.

Orthophotography, a digital ground model comprising approximately 3 km² served as main GIS data inputs.

The area closest to the industrial plant (1 - 2 km²) was modelled with LoD1 buildings. The digital surface model and oblique aerial images were used to create LoD2 buildings with realistic roof forms.

A total of 15 buildings in LoD3 were created. These buildings have façade textures taken from selected oblique aerial images and terrestrial photographs. The digestion tower and operations building are CAD models provided by the client TRIGIS that have been edited by virtualcitySYSTEMS and integrated into the final model.

TRIGIS examined available orthophotography to determine location of trees as well as their heights. virtualcitySYSTEMS was then able to use this information to integrate 3D vegetation into the model.
